Keep doing Simple Things in 2016

We wish you a very happy New Year! We hope your 2016 will be filled with creativity, innovation and your continued commitment to help create a brighter future in a more tolerant and peaceful world. Our Simple Things are just that: simple! But don’t let simplicity fool you: every single Simple Thing helps reduce the impact we are having as consumers, decision makers and as human beings on our planet and others around us. Each Simple Things aims to turn our actions into something that is positive, contributes to sustainability and peace. Simple they may be, but Simple Things have a complex aim which we hope will make the world a better place for everyone.

Having said that, doing Simple Things can be fun (and can get a bit silly)! So enjoy and we look forward to seeing what you come up with in 2016!

What’s the point?

Many companies make promotional materials such as diaries or calendars to send to clients and potential customers. It’s a nice thought, but if we throw them all away, it has been a complete waste of paper, ink, energy for production and so on. If we use them, not only was the production for these kinds of items not wasted, you also get to save yourself some pennies and cents by not having to buy a new diary!

Don’t use a diary? Use your phone instead?

More and more people are switching from paper diaries to ones on their phones or other devices. If that is you, there is plenty you can do to try and keep it fair and sustainable! For example, make sure you use your phone as long as you possibly can (the fairest phone is the one you already have) and if you do need a new one: make sure you choose one that is durable and as sustainably made as possible. Have a look at a Simple Things video we did earlier this year about mobile phones.
